What the F#*k Is Spiritual Astrology Anyway and How Does it Relate to Your Midlife Self-Reinvention?
Hot Takes from My Conversation with spiritual astrologer, Dani Beinstein
Get your golden shit shovels ready! It’s time to uncover your personal secret sauce, as it is written in the stars. All you need is your birth date, time, and location and some insight from Dani Beinstein. She’s a spiritual astrologer who combines aspects of astrology with human psychology to get a clear and honest picture of a person. She’s got an online course and community, and has a huge roster of “who’s who” clients in her private practice.
Before my conversation with Dani, I only thought of horoscopes as little blurbs in the back of a magazine. Well peeps, it turns out there are some serious golden nuggets to be found from that snapshot in the sky. It was super illuminating to have Dani read my natal chart for this episode…talk about a deep dive. That’s why I want to share some hot takes for you, so you can start to dive deep into your patterns and motivations and find some clarity in the chaos.
Astrology is complicated because we are complicated
Astrology is made up of tons of different planets, points, energies, and signs. Not only that, they all relate to each other in different ways. It makes sense that it’s a good way to look at people… we’re kind of “a lot.” Just like the skies, we change. We can choose to remix, even in midlife. Our fate isn’t written in the stars, but we can let the stars guide our path if we choose to.
Here’s a healthy way to think about your natal chart:
Your chart doesn’t define you. Your decisions and what you choose to do with your circumstances do.
Don’t oversimplify your chart or yourself. Like Dani says, “what I love about astrology is its complexity. It can't be reduced to a soundbite because we can't be. We're too layered with too many facets of our personality.”
Astrology can be used to empower you to understand yourself better and make the choices that are authentic to your core.
We’ve got to take ownership of our lives
The perfect life isn’t going to arrive at your door in an Amazon box. You’ve got to take ownership of the decisions you make. We can’t control what happens to us or what cards we’re dealt, but we can take action and empower ourselves to live the way that we truly want to live. Dani shared how important it is to really live out loud and release whatever judgements we have about what life looks like or what it could be, especially in the second half of life.
Here are some helpful insights about taking ownership of your life:
What are you explaining away or attempting to justify in your life? If it doesn’t make sense...the partner, the job, the mindset… you have permission to change it. Like Dani says, “If you need to justify it or explain it, there's something there to explore.” Even if you're not ready to make a change yet, that’s okay. Just own it, either way.
Don’t share every shift you’re making with everyone else so quickly. Take some time to hold your new ideas and bold moves close to you. Feel strong with them before you open up the floor for the peanut gallery to give their two cents.
Meditate! We can’t take ownership of our lives if we can’t even hear ourselves think over the constant noise. If you don’t even know where to start, quiet time is the perfect place.
How to take advantage of the full moon period
There’s so much change that can happen in a 28-day lunar cycle…right ladies? It’s not just our bodies that are changing, it’s the energy of the world around us. When the moon is at its fullest, that’s when it’s getting ready to release and return to a blank slate. You may have heard some serious “woo-woo” witchy shit about full moons, but Dani gives us the real hot take about what you can actually do to harness its power.
Here’s some actionable steps to working with the full moon:
Write down the aspects of your life that you’re ready to release. It could be patterns, limiting beliefs, emotions…write it all down and then burn or shred it. Let that sh*t go!
Consider making this “release” practice into a ritual. Get some candles burning, maybe start off with a meditation, put your phone down and take some “me” time.
Connect with nature. You may want to be outside under the light of the full moon to feel more in tune with your body. Let out a little howl while you’re at it!
I f#*king loved this episode with Dani… and that’s coming from someone who thought astrology was bull sh*t. Working with her on my natal chart really opened my eyes to all the layers of my past and present. She really helped me dig through some serious layers in this one and it has given me even more inspo for my midlife remix. I hope you’re feeling chill in the chaos and ready to remix your sexy midlife with astrology as your guide.
